I don’t keep up with too many design events around Dallas, but when I got the invite to a book signing with Martyn Lawrence-Bullard I instantly replied yes! He is an international interior decorator whose celebrity clients include Elton John, Cher, Daisy Fuentes, and Kid Rock. He was also on Bravo’s Millionare Decorators last year alongside the talented cast of Mary McDonald, Kathryn Ireland, Nathan Turner, and Jeffrey Alan Marks. So needless to say Martyn is kind of a big deal, and I would be crazy to turn down the chance of meeting him!

So I started my day out at Schumacher for the book signing alongside my designer friend Michelle Kopfer. There was a huge turnout, but Martyn still took time to talk with every guest. Michelle and I were so nervous about what to say to him, but I am pretty sure my bad joke about him getting carpal tunnel won him over! Ha! Also do notice how his arm is around me and not Michelle… : )

If you have never had the pleasure of seeing his work , then enjoy these delicious interiors by Martyn Lawrence-Bullard.

After our book signing we headed over to the OAK off Oak Lawn for lunch. It was a fabalous way to finish out our glamorous girls’ day out. They have a really wonderful menu prepared by Executive Chef Jason Maddy, previously from The Mansion, and the setting is so chic and sophisticated. If you are in the design district area, you have to give this place a try.

Life is really made better by taking time off to enjoy the small things, so make sure to plan a fun day out with your friends and loved ones!

I am so excited to be working on a couple traditional and french country projects in the area, and wanted to share my progress on one of them. This living room in Frisco, Texas needed a color boost, and a little more warmth added to the space. So with the help of new sofas, chairs, window treatments, ottoman, accent tables, and some fresh accessories this room is really starting to take shape.
Below you can see a before picture of the room the first time I saw it. I wish I had taken the picture with my wide angle so you could see the whole space, but I think you get the idea. It had a large dark chocolate sectional, and black and gold rug on the dark wood floors. They were all very nice separately but didn’t compliment each other as a whole leaving the room feeling dark and cold.

I just love the pop of color that the ottoman and pillows give to the room. You can also see a peek at the window treatments in the breakfast nook that we recently had installed. They help balance the rich color throughout the home. Also, I just have to say that this picture really doesn’t do the room justice as the colors in the rug and fabrics are much richer in person. At least you can see the new space plan in much more functional for the space, and the color scheme is much more vibrant and welcoming. I cannot wait to gather up the remaining accessories, pillows, and fireplace art for the space, and will share the final reveal soon.
Stan tuned for more updates on this project!
Cheers,
